The monthly Intergroup Business Meeting takes place from 10:00a-12:15p on the third Saturday of each month.

In ODD months, the meeting is held in San Francisco, at Grace Cathedral, 1100 California St (at Taylor) in the Chapter Room. From the Taylor St entrance, go up the main stairs to the open area to the right of the church. You will see a fountain. The Chapter Building is the building to the right of the fountain. The Chapter room is the room closest to the fountain (the right-most room when looking at the Chapter building). In EVEN months, the meeting is held in Berkeley at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1744 University, 1 block west of Martin Luther King St, Berkeley. It is halfway between Berkeley and N. Berkeley BART.

There is a special email list for Intergroup announcements. Intergroup officers and Group Representatives should contact the Intergroup Chair to be put on this list so that they can recieve announcements, the agenda, etc. from Intergroup. Members on this list also have access to additional resources for running a meeting. It is suggested that each group have at least one additional person (i.e. the group's Secretary) on this email list as backup to ensure that Intergroup information is communicated to each group in the fellowship at its monthly business meeting. Anyone in the fellowship who is interested in what is happening at Intergroup is welcome to be on this list also.

The next few intergroup meetings dates are:

September 18, 2010 - San Francisco

October 16, 2010 - Berkeley

November 20, 2010 - San Francisco

December 18, 2010 - Berkeley

The Topic For Discussion for March is:

Tradition Three: “The only requirement for membership in SLAA is a desire to stop living out a pattern of sex and love addiction. Any two or more members who come together for mutual aid in recovery may call themselves a meeting, provided that as a meeting they have no other affiliation.”

Intergroup Business Item Agenda for March 20, 2010: M=Motion D=Item for Discussion

2010/02-D1 : We need to fill open intergroup positions as follows:
   Bylaws
   7th tradition officer
   ABM delegate

2009/10-M1: Eliminating the procedure whereby there can be a call to vote immediately on a motion as this may be contrary to our ideals of group conscience and allowing the opposing viewpoint to be heard (D.R.)

2009/10-M2: Including the tally of votes cast on motion items in the minutes of the meeting as this is useful information to the fellowship and for individual recovery (D.R.)

2009/11-D2: Discussion of the procedure whereby a discussion can be turned into a motion during the same month's business meeting, and whether it's more appropriate for the item to come back on the agenda at a subsequent month's meeting.

2010/01-M3: Add to script: "Can we have a volunteer to talk to newcomers to Intergroup after the meeting?" (Elaine)

2010/00-D3: Table arrangement is still unsatisfactory. (miriam)

2010/01-D4: Whether to read characteristics of SLAA, or one or two at the opening of meeting along with steps and traditions. (Mark Whi)

2010/01-D5: Find someone to deliver literature to meetings?(Rob P)

2010/03-M4: Webmaster/mistress position. I would like to put forth a motion that we change the title of this position to web editor in order to remove gender reference from the position. (Adam M)

2010/03-D6: Should we change the duties so that the literature officer is responsible for making copies of the meeting schedule as needed, eliminating the problem of the L.O. having to reach the Registrar and coordinating delivery of copies from the R/W to the L.O. (miriam)

2010/03-D7: Literature officer is not responsible for delivery of literature to meetings. A flyer might be written and distributed to all meetings encouraging meeting reps or meeting member to come to intergroup to pick up literature or meeting schedules. (Dion M)

2010/03-D8: Literature: Fellowship Wide Services is raising rates for literature. How do we want to respond? (Alex K.)

2010/03-D9: Mandana House is now closed on the weekend and the main House is closed through the rest of the week for repairs following water damage from vandalism. The following questions have been brought to my attention:
   1. The immediate need for meeting space to accommodate meetings displaced at Mandana House. (How Intergroup may help in effort.)
   2. Oakland Kaiser has begun to accommodate the overflow but is requesting insurance. Grace period for 30 days. Do we acquire blanket coverage for the East Bay and S.F. vs. on an as needed basis? (Mandana may soon require insurance.)
   3. The need for meeting schedule revisions (Web,literature etc.) and distribution.(Brodie A.)

2010/03-D10: What is the status of the upcoming fun raiser talent show needed to send delegates to San Antonio? (Brodie A.)

The agenda for Intergroup meetings is maintained by the Chairperson. Items for meetings must be submitted to the Chair no later than 48 hours before the first day of the month of the next meeting. On the first day of the month, the Chair will produce the agenda and publish it on the Intergroup section of the public website. Agenda items proposing changes to the bylaws must provide exact replacement text for the bylaws change before being considered or voted on. (bylaws, 5/20/06)

The sponsor of the item must be present in order to present the item, otherwise the item will be tabled until the following month. If the sponsor is not present the second time, the item is taken off the agenda.
